Support Alder & Otter

Your gift goes directly into the rivers.
What your support funds

Every pound spent on restoration, monitoring, and education

Alder & Otter spends the majority of its income on direct programme costs — field staff, equipment, volunteer training, and school visits. We do not run expensive advertising campaigns or pay large management fees. If you give to us, the money reaches the water.

In 2024–25, 78 per cent of our total expenditure went directly to programme delivery. The remainder covered essential infrastructure: data management, financial compliance, and staff development.

Choose your level of support

Every regular gift, however small, keeps our restoration work running year-round.

Friend

Gifts up to £50

A Friend keeps the everyday work moving: waders mended, water testing kits restocked, willow stakes in the ground. £25 plants five metres of riverbank with native alder

Supporter

£50 and above

Supporters fund the fieldwork itself. £75 covers a volunteer training day on the River Wye – ten new people who can take a water sample, read an invertebrate count, and spot the signs of an otter holt.

Guardian

£200 and above

Guardians sustain our monitoring programmes. £200 equips one school with a water quality kit and keeps it calibrated for a full year – real data, gathered by young people, feeding real conservation decisions.

Patron

£600 and above

Patrons make restoration possible at the scale rivers need. £600 restores a full stretch of degraded bank: regraded, replanted, and monitored for the three years it takes a riverbank to hold itself again.
